About Me
Dr. Michael Williams (He/Him) is a board-certified Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN). He is a bilingual (English, Spanish) APRN specializing in Internal Medicine and HIV-PrEP. He has cared for a culturally and socio-economic diverse patient population for over seven years. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Williams has played a crucial role in shaping the future of nursing by serving as a clinical instructor at several universities.
Michael’s love for healthcare is deeply rooted in his personal experiences. Growing up in New York City and being of Panamanian descent, he was exposed to numerous healthcare challenges and obstacles to care. These experiences, coupled with his understanding of the importance of culture in healthcare delivery, inspired him to pursue a career in Nursing.
Dr. Williams believes that community care is essential to the advancement of society. The philosophy guiding his practice is to provide the highest level of care through meaningful and collaborative relationships with all community members. As a first-generation college graduate, he and four friends initiated an endowment scholarship for first-generation college students at their alma mater. He serves as a board member of the Black Men’s Health Clinic and DNPs of Color.
In addition to his philanthropic efforts, he also engages in a variety of speaking and volunteer events in his community. He has been featured on Telemundo Austin for World AIDS Day, highlighting the importance of STI/HIV testing and prevention in the Latino population. He has also appeared in the Wall Street Journal to discuss the increase in males pursuing nursing careers. Michael firmly believes that improving healthcare outcomes begins with educating and empowering the community he serves.
